Biswajit Ghosh – Profile

 Biswajit Ghosh received M.Sc. in Physics from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, then awarded PhD and D. Sc. (Engg.) from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He is involved with photovoltaic (PV) research at Jadavpur University since 1978 and made pioneering contribution in the field of electrical contacting technology to the opto-electronic materials & devices in general and thin film PV cells in particular. He is pioneer in developing electrical contact to the large workfunction semiconductors using electroless and defect induced techniques. Worked as the postdoctoral researcher at Stuttgart University, Germany, Northumbira University at Newcastle, Imperial College, London, University of Surrey, Guildford and Newcastle University, at Newcastle, UK. Designed, developed and installed several mWP to MWp level standalone as well as grid connected PV power plants both in India and abroad and made pioneering contributions on PV micro grid systems in 1984. Associated with United Nation Industrial Organization (UNIDO) as adviser in Energy & Climate Change. Honored with ‘Outstanding Teacher’, D.Sc. (Honaris Causa) for outstanding contribution in Science, Technology and Education. Worked as Professor in Energy Sc. & Tech. at Jadavpur University, Leverhulme visiting Professor at Newcastle University, Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK and at present Vice Chancellor of ‘The Neotia University’, Kolkata, India.
