Profile-Roberta Somma

Since 2004 she is an academic at the University of Messina (Italy), before as researcher and later as Associate Professor. She is an expert in Stratigraphy and Structural Geology working on stratigraphy and tectonics of the Betic Cordillera in Spain, Rif in Morocco, Apennines, and Calabria-Peloritani Arc together Spanish and Italian colleagues for decades. In the last ten years she is also interested in the field of Forensic Geology and Criminalistics. She is qualified to exercise the profession of Geologist, is fellow of the national council of geologists, and worked to the Project for the realization on the Italian geological maps. She is fellow as: • Ordinary member of the Accademia Peloritana dei Pericolanti in the Physical, Mathematical and Natural Sciences class. • Member of the Italian Geological Society. • Member of the European Geological Union EGU. • Member of the Medical Geology Association. • Member of the Italian Society of Criminology. • Member of the Italian Society of Forensic Dog Sciences. • Associate member of the ENFSI APST Animal, Plant, and Soil Traces working group of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI). She is reviewer for several international journals in Earth Sciences, Criminalistics, and Toxicology, She organized several international meetings and field trips in the western Mediterranean area. She is invited speakers in international conferences, participated to tens of international congresses and she is author of over 160 scientific products among articles, chapters of books, field trip books, geological maps and proceedings.
